Rarity’s Dress Shop

“Dressmaking’s easy.” – Rarity

My girls are obsessed with My Little Pony.  They have the ponies, the collectibles, pony purses, stuffed animals, clothes with different ponies on them…  Fortunately, I find My Little Pony to be a bearable child’s show to watch.  I even, dare I say, like watching it.  It teaches great lessons for kids.

Princess loves Rarity.  Rarity runs a dress shop in the show, so I set up a dress shop where my girls could pretend to be dress designers as well.

Materials Needed:

  • Dress Template (below, print one of your own)
  • Crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.
  • Glitter, diamonds, stickers, etc. (optional)

How to Play:

  • Set out the template and materials.
  • Let your kid(s) color and design the dresses.  (If your kids are thorough like mine, this could take awhile.)

Even the littlest designers enjoy this activity.

Goofy has gotten to be very particular about her coloring.  Blue is her favorite color and everything she does must have something blue included.

  • Let each designer display their completed dresses.  Make sure to ooh and ah!

Goofy was so proud of her dresses.

Princess’ dresses were very detailed.  Let’s take a closer look…

I love the little flowered dress.  Notice, she also made crowns, capes, and veils for the dresses.  Eventually, I cut them out so that the girls could play with them.

Here is the dress pattern that we used.

*You could also use this activity to design a dress for Cinderella to wear to the ball.  Come to think about it, you could use this activity for just about any Disney princess-themed party.
