Holes – Warden Walker’s Nail Salon
“You girl scouts want to hear a story. Once upon a time there was a magical place that never rained… The end.” – Mr. Sir.
That quote pretty much sums up the setting of the movie Holes. Stanley Yelnats is wrongly accused of stealing shoes and is sent to Camp Green Lake where he is forced to dig holes to “build character.” If you haven’t read Holes by Louis Sachar or seen the movie I would highly recommend it. Your kids will love it!
In the movie Warden Walker makes her own nail polish. It has a special ingredient – rattlesnake venom. “It’s perfectly harmless…when it’s dry.”
My girls love getting their nails done, so we used our venom-less version and set up Warden Walker’s Nail Salon.
Warden Walker’s Nail Salon
- Nail polish
- Remover and Q-tips or cotton balls (if you are messy like yours truly)
- Toilet paper
Lay down your toilet paper. This is to protect your floor/counter in case of spills. Princess was super excited to get her nails done. Paint away!
Half way done with the hands.
All done! She left them on the tissue paper while I blew them dry.
Princess and Goofy were so proud of their pretty nails. I didn’t do anything fancy this time, but they were happy just the same.
You could really go all out and dress up like Warden Walker. You could put your kids in orange jump suits like the kids in the movie. While you do their nails you can act as if you are Warden Walker. Say, “Excuse me,” a lot!
What fun ways do you like to paint your nails?
Here’s the trailer for Holes. Enjoy!
