Sword in the Stone – Squirrel Gravity Game
Merlin: Don’t take gravity too lightly or it will catch up with you.
Arthur: What’s gravity?
Merlin: Gravity is what causes you to fall.
Welcome to the first Fan-Pick Friday! I’m so glad you picked Sword in the Stone. It is one of my favorite Disney classics. It has so many memorable moments and one of my favorites scenes is when Merlin and Arthur (or Wart) are squirrels. That fat red squirrel cracks me up!
During that scene Merlin teaches Arthur about gravity. I created this fun little squirrel game for my kiddos. It’s simple, cheap, and educational.
Squirrel Gravity Game
- Squishy Pool Balls
- Squirrel Faces Printout
- Paper Shapes
- A Staircase
How to Play:
First, you’ll need to create a couple of “squirrels” with squishy pool balls and my squirrel face printout (at the bottom of the post).
Here are the squirrels. The little tags look just like tails!
Cut some shapes out of construction paper and taped them at the bottom of the stairs.
Have the kids sit at the top of the stairs. Give them their squirrels.
Announce a shape or color that they should try to get the squirrel to land on. Let the kids roll the squirrels down the stairs. (See, we are learning about gravity just like Arthur!)
You can award points if they hit the right shape/color.
Here’s Princess lining up her squirrel.
I told her to hit the heart.
She did it!
Goofy had fun gathering the squirrels and giving them back to Princess.
This is a great educational activity. You can teach shapes, colors, letters, numbers, sight words, etc.
